Statement

Whenever I present my work people keep asking me: “Which one is the artwork, the photography or the object?” It is surprising for me to hear these questions but I consider them to be important. In the process of my work I treat objects, images, models and photography equally. Sometimes there is an order in the sense of a cause and effect. At other times it seems to be other way round. The means of my expression are different but for my work it all belongs together.

My work is very much inspired by advertisement photography. Since my days at junior high school I helped my father in his studio. Thanks to this training I gained my knowledge and abilities in photography and digital retouching. I put great attention to the balance of light, motif, detail and concept. At college I studied Japanese literature of the middle ages and still today the tension of tradition and modernity remains important for my work.

One more thing: I consider it to be my task to let other people enjoy my work. I have no interest in producing work for the sole purpose of provocation. I work to get along with others well.
